Change-check routine

Recheck a listing when details change

Compare a saved product reference with the live page before you rely on a changed price, stock note or variant.

Published and reviewed October 9, 2026 · Independent editorial guide

01

Confirm that it is still the same product

Match the source ID, title context, visible product and seller page before comparing details. A URL can be reused, a title can change and a new variant can be attached to an older product reference.

02

Compare the selected option first

A price or image difference may simply belong to a different colour, size, bundle or configuration. Open the exact option you intend to assess, then compare its current information with the note you saved.

03

Update the time-sensitive fields

Record the current price, stock indication, option name, seller note and date checked. Keep historic details labelled as historic; do not overwrite them in a way that makes an older reference look current.

04

Decide whether the evidence is still usable

If a required detail has changed or disappeared, return the item to an unresolved state. The useful action may be to compare another candidate rather than forcing an old record to answer a current question.

Editorial standard

Use evidence as a prompt, not a promise.

This independent guide explains a research method. Product records, images, prices, stock and seller notes can change. Confirm the selected option and current live listing before relying on a detail or making a payment decision.
